Painting - Oils on Paper - Mother's Love

A one-off painting by artist Zach Mukwira using oil on paper and hand-cut low relief detail. Zach's artworks are inspired by African legends and stories, his own creative fantasy, and the emotions common to all cultures and ages. Over the years he has developed his own unique style using techniques learned from print-making.

Zach tells us about the inspiration for this painting which is one of his new pieces conceived and painted during South Africa's lockdown, "In the middle of this Covid-19 season I believe everything has a time and will pass. I did this piece when everyone needed support. The baby depending on its mother, represents how we all need each other for support in this hard time. The mother is walking with a mask on her face, reflecting that this is about now."
