Shweshwe Dress - Greeting Card - Textile Art - A5 set of 4

Original art cards to frame. This design showcases the iconic Shweshwe fabric introduced by German settlers in Natal and the Eastern Cape in the early 1800’s and soon adopted by the local Xhosa inhabitants. Originally the fabric was only available in blue designs, but recently the range has been expanded to a wonderful variety of vibrant colours.

This is an A5 fabric picture created using applique and freehand machine embroidery sewn onto cardstock. The technique involves guiding fabric by hand, any squiggles in the stitching adding to its handmade character. Each card is unique and may use a slightly different selection of fabrics, thread colour or design details to those shown here.

The card is blank inside and it is supplied with an envelope.
