Chumisa creates elegant, high quality beaded jewellery pieces, mostly handwoven on a loom. Her range consists of flat bracelets in different widths – also known as wrist cuffs - necklaces, earrings, beaded ribbons and pendants, all in a wide variety of colours and sophisticated designs. After learning her beading skills in a programme with the Craft & Design Institute in Cape Town, 14 years ago, she set up her own studio producing fine beaded jewellery based on contemporary African designs. Over the years, she has participated in Trade Shows and exhibition events nationally and internationally and is continually experimenting with new concepts. She is happy to take special commissions.
